What Is SAS Integration Technologies?

SAS Integration Technologies enables software developers to extend their SAS applications to use many of today's emerging technology standards. These standards provide such operational advantages as enhanced interoperability, flexibility in deployment, and software system reuse. Conforming to such industrial standards has proven to help control costs, maximize utilization, and enable developers to respond rapidly to change.

Several middleware technology standards have emerged to help developers achieve these operational advantages. Component platforms expressed by the Object Management Group's CORBA/IIOP and Microsoft's COM/DCOM address these considerations with a distributed object model. Similarly, application messaging platforms expressed by IBM's MQSeries and Microsoft's MSMQ address these considerations with a message-passing model. Finally, enterprise directory platforms expressed through the emerging LDAP access initiatives provide the enabling infrastructure that facilitates resource location, security, and configuration management across distributed enterprises.

These middleware standards have extended access to and presentation from SAS software's decision support, business intelligence, and data warehousing facilities. SAS Integration Technologies delivers the enabling infrastructure that supports the next generation of solutions from SAS Institute and delivers that same infrastructure to an enterprise's solution integrators.
