SAS Companion for the OS/390 Environment

Utilizing Input/Output Features

Version 5 and 6 data sets generally need to be moved to Version 7 or later if you want to take advantage of the I/O features introduced in SAS Version 7. For example, if you wanted to add integrity constraints to a Version 6 data set, you would first have to move that data set to Version 7 or later. For information on upgrading your data sets, refer to Moving and Accessing SAS Files across Operating Environments.
