The Director Series consists of five half-day sessions covering issues relevant to the workplace, specifically to
the OSU campus.
Why a Director Series?
The Director Series was designed to keep executives current on human resources issues. The trends for
executives are ever changing with daily activities expanding due to new expectations. Giving executives
need-to-know information on legal issues and OSU System policies helps them to manage effectively and
minimize legal pitfalls. Topics are presented in small group environments for ease of discussion between peers.
Participants are encouraged to ask candid questions relevant to their needs. Upon completion of the
five classes, participants receive a certificate of achievement.
Who can enroll?
All director, assistant director, and associate director levels are
invited to attend the sessions. Others in management positions may
attend with approval of their vice president.
How does the program work?
We will bring the program to you. We offer the five half-day sessions
at your location at times convenient for your executives. We ask that
at least ten executives be present at each session.
In addition, before the series begins, Human Resources will invite the executives to identify specific needs they
would like addressed so that we can include special needs in the subject matter.
Each participant is asked to keep track of his/her attendance. After attending all five sessions, he/she submits
a completion form found on
http://hr.okstate.edu. After completion of the program participants are eligible to attend the
Advanced Leadership Program
(ALP) Special Opportunity sessions without registering for ALP. Upon
completion of 30 additional hours of electives from the Leadership
Development Program, you will be eligible for full participation in
ALP. For more information on ALP go to http://hr.okstate.edu.
How long does it take to complete the program?
Some departments will request the series to be five consecutive
half-day sessions so it can be completed in a week. Other departments
may want one half-day session per week for five weeks. Others may
want one half-day session per month for five months. Classes can be in
the morning or afternoon. We will work out all the dates with speakers
to make it most convenient for the department.
How much does the program cost?
There is no cost to the department. Human Resources pays for this program.
How do I schedule the Program?
If your vice president or assistant vice president would like to
schedule a series for all the executives in your area, we ask that you
contact OSU Human Resources/Training Services by calling (405)
744-5374, or e-mail osu-trng@okstate.edu.
