The Organization....
The organization's main purpose is to promote Vietnamese American culture and create unity and friendship among the organization's members with the OSU population as a whole. Another important function of the organization is to recruit new members and to enhance the participation of old members within the group. Activities within the organization help bring forth the interaction of members in both formal and informal settings.

Just for the Academics of it....
VASA offers free tutoring for those individuals who need help. The service is given by VASA members who volunteer their time to tutor students in certain classes. The emphasis of the organization is to assist students in their academic achievement. In turn, outstanding members are recognized for their academic and leadership achivements during the Multicultural Convocation and Banquet held each spring.

Just for the Leadership of it....
Members are encouraged to run for certain positions within the organization. Leadership withing the organization gives students the opportunity to interact with peers, faculty, members from other student organizations within the University system, and with members from other colleges and universities across the state and nation. Students who hold officer positions learn how to develop effective leadership skills.

Just for the Friends of it....
Within the organization, students learn to interact with peers on a one-to-one basis and, in many cases, develop life-long friendships. Getting to know more people and being able to socialize with other students also enhances communication skills. One of the advantages of being a VASA member is having the opportunity to learn about each and every member of the organization, and thereby learning to get close and share thoughts and ideas.

Just for the Fun of it....
VASA not only focuses on academic achivement and leadership, but also on fun. The organization takes part in leisure activities, in holiday parties, and graduation celebrations for seniors. Students get dressed up and have fun with friends. These events help keep members in touch with one another and also enhance participation with the VASA alumni.

Just for the Sports of it....
Sports are another important element within VASA, consisting of volleyball, basketball, soccer, tennis, and ping-pong. VASA sponsors or participates in sports tournaments to encourage students to interact with students from other colleges and universities. These activities are great social get-togethers and result in bringing members closer together.
