About Us

HFSA hopes to enlighten and inform students, faculty, and staff to the variety which one can find in Hispanic culture, and its contributions to our society. The Association brings together a group of diverse individuals and allows them to share the backgrounds, cultures, and experiences that have been passed down to them through generations. Although HFSA’s activities concentrate on Hispanic life, people from all cultures are welcome to join and have joined to celebrate the atmosphere of diversity. We encourage you to support HFSA by joining our organization and in turn, build a network of people in the Hispanic/Latino community throughout OSU campuses, our local community, the United States and the world in general.

History of HFSA

HFSA was founded by Hispanic faculty and staff who felt there was a need for Hispanics at OSU to join together as a support group, not only for faculty and staff, but also for students and the Hispanic community in Stillwater. The Association recognizes that if we work together, we can improve the quality of higher education at OSU. We have established a scholarship program to help Hispanic students and we are always trying to come up with creative fundraising activities. There are also many cultural activities and programs which HFSA supports and sponsors throughout the year. We welcome any suggestions you might have for fundraising activities.

HFSA Meetings

During the academic year 2008-2009 HFSA will meet the first Wednesday of every month from 12:10-12:50 pm at the Student Union in order to accommodate those on their lunch hours. Please feel free to bring your lunch with you to the meeting. The meeting room is subject to change every semester. If you do not receive a notification email from HFSA, please call Student Union Meeting Services at 744-5232. Occasionally, we will have evening meetings at a local restaurant to have a chance to socialize more with members. During these meetings, members pay for their own meals and drinks. Family and friends are always welcome.
