Club Rewards
In addition to the personal rewards and experience gained by being a Hort Club member, participating in club activities earns club points. These points can be then used for a number of things including:
Points for Plants
The remaining plants after a Plant Sale are usually available as Points
for Plants. Points are assigned a dollar value, then you can trade your
points in for the plants.
Club Trips & Competitions
Each year the Hort Club takes trips to various gardens and other recreational
locations as well as horticultural competitions. In the past, members have
been to White Sands, San Antonio Botanical Gardens, Mexico, South
Padre Island, and Skiing in New Mexico. We are also planning a trip
to visit the gardens of New Zealand this Winter. Points can be traded
in to help cover some of the expenses on these trips including transportation
and garden admission fees.
Scholarships
Each year, the Hort Club awards four $400 scholarships to its members.
The three members with the most points in the current school year are the
automatic recipients of the scholarships.
