Objectives
  • To obtain German language competence equivalent to third semester college level. Priority Academic Student Skills of the Oklahoma State Department of Education as well as varying aspects of learner outcomes of other states are observed.
  • We will emphasize especially communicative skills and reading comprehension in the context of selected cultural themes.
  • A review of structural topics and the discussion of literary reading selections are complemented with written exercises.
Four-Skilled Development
  1. Students read selections for different purposes, such as gathering information and basic comprehension.
  2. Students participate in a number of oral activities, including answering questions and responding creatively in personalized exercises.
  3. Students hear German spoken by their professors during individual computer conferencing sessions and by speakers on audio and video cassettes.
  4. Students complete written assignments, including Internet activities and exercises. The exercises vary both in difficulty and in structure ranging from recombination exercises to opportunities for free expression.

  • Quizzes and tests with test cassettes will be provided.
  • The teaching partner should grade the quizzes and objective parts of the tests according to answer keys.
  • Students' written evaluations are generally confined to two pages per test. Those pages should be sent in for grading.
  • Some workbook exercises must be sent in for correction. Specific assignments will be given in the chapter outlines.
