Terms of Subscription Agreement, 1998-99

Subscription
  • Each school must complete a 1998-99 Subscription Agreement and return it to Oklahoma State University.
  • Schools subscribing after August 10, 1998 will be billed for express mail postage.
Early Bird Registration
  • Subscriptions postmarked on or before June 1, 1998 receive a five percent (5%) discount on the standard subscription rate.
  • If a school meets the Early Bird deadline for at least one course, any courses subsequently added for the same year will also receive the Early Bird discount.
Student Enrollment
  • A class roll form will be sent to each school to be filled out and returned with accurate enrollment numbers no later than September 18, 1998.
  • No adjustments in billing will be made after September 18, 1998.
Billing
  • Schools will be billed.
  • Please do not send payment before you receive an invoice.
Course Cancellation Policy
  • Subscribing schools have the right to cancel German by Satellite courses without a penalty prior to August 15, 1998 by submitting a Course Cancellation form to the German by Satellite office.
  • A verbal cancellation alone is not valid.
  • If a course is canceled between August 15 and September 11, the school will be charged a $50 processing fee.
  • Schools must return all course materials before the office will recognize a course cancellation.
  • No refunds will be issued for a course canceled after September 11, 1998.
Student Add/Drop Policy
  • A subscribing school may add or drop a student until September 18 by submitting the add/drop form.
  • A verbal add/drop alone is not valid.
  • No adjustments in billing for student enrollment will be made after September 18.
Missed Broadcasts
  • In the event of a missed broadcast, German by Satellite will provide a videotaped copy of the broadcast to the subscribing school at a charge of $10 per broadcast.
  • Requests for tapes can be made by calling 1-800-423-6493.
  • German By Satellite will broadcast all classes during inclement weather unless such weather prevents the Educational Television Services from broadcasting due to technical problems.
  • Subscribers should call the toll-free number to determine if a broadcast will be aired or canceled.
Video Taping Rights
  • Schools are encouraged to tape all broadcasts for the courses to which they subscribe.
  • Videotapes allow absent students to catch up and will help all students review for exams.
  • All videotapes of the broadcasts must be erased by the end of June 1999.
Teaching Partner Orientation Workshop
  • Oklahoma subscribers agree that new teaching partners for German By Satellite courses I, II, and III will participate in an orientation workshop on August 7, 1998.
  • The fee for the workshop is $20.
  • The out-of-state subscriber has the option of attending the workshop or requesting a teacher orientation video.
  • Further information will be sent prior to the workshop.
Subscription Rights
  • All courses have a copyright of 1998-99 by German by Satellite and the Oklahoma State University Board of Regents.
  • All rights are reserved except those specifically given to the subscriber and their representatives by the agreement.
  • The subscriber is authorized to receive the satellite transmission of the course broadcast (either directly or through a cooperating cable, microwave, or fiber-optics television system operator), to participate in the telephone interactivity portion of the live broadcasts, and to make one videotaped copy of the broadcasts (at the district's expense) for use during the 1998-99 academic year.
  • The subscriber agrees to erase or otherwise destroy any videotapes of these courses at the end of the 1998-99 academic year (not later than June 30, 1999).
  • Use of the videotapes shall be limited to unedited showing to the district's personnel, students, and patrons with appropriate notice that materials have been produced by Oklahoma State University's College of Arts and Sciences.
  • In the event that a district wishes to use edited segments of the course videotapes, written permission from German by Satellite must be secured in advance.
