 Below are some pictures of the equipment to familiarize you with what they look like and how they work.

This is an actual picture of the FC 4000 Field Instrument and the sonde.  The sonde along with the wire attached to it are pushed into the subsurface using the Geoprobe.  The nodes on the sonde send the current into the lithology, which in turn sends a signal to the Field Instrument for a conductivity read-out.

This picture is showing the controls to the Geoprobe.  Use of this instrument takes practice.  The levers along the bottom of the instrument control the tilt and the forward and backward motion of the Geoprobe.  It is always important to make sure the system is level before drilling.  The top, right lever controls the hammer if needed.  This is only necessary if you are drilling into rock, gravel, etc.

This is a photo displaying the rack that holds the EC pipe.  The conductivity wire is strung through the pipe so the Geoprobe can push them underground.  A rack contains 16 pipes, each of which are 4ft. long.
