Research Interests

To examine various types of structures and basins formed by the three major styles of rock deformation: compressional, extensional, and strike-slip tectonics.

Research in Progress

  1. Surface ruptures associated with the August 17, 1999 Izmit and November 12, 1999, Duzce Earthquakes.
  2. Active Tectonics in West Anatolia, Turkey.
  3. Extensional tectonics and associated structures in West Anatolia, Turkey and the Death Valley region, U.S.A.
  4. Geometry and structural evolution of thrust faulting in the Arkoma basin, southeastern Oklahoma; implications for oil exploration in fold-thrust belts.
  5. Indentation tectonics and associated structures in southeast, east and central Anatolia.
  6. Strike-slip deformation and basin formation during the deformation stage of the Southern Oklahoma Aulacogen.
