Students
The community service aspect of OSU's Federal Work-Study program provides a remarkable opportunity for OSU students to take an active role in the greater community while still earning money. We currently have many community service positions available, ranging from reading tutoring in local elementary schools, to working with the developmentally disabled in a sheltered workshop. With many jobs currently available, eligible students are sure to find a meaningful and enjoyable job that is just right for them. The links at the end of this page provide information on current jobs available. If you have other questions, please go to Work-Study's Student Section page or call our office at (405) 744-7056.
Employers
Our community service program is a great way for community agencies to employ college students at a fraction of the normal cost to an employer. Essentially, agencies or organizations which qualify to employ Federal Work-Study students have the opportunity to hire university students in the same capacities that they would regular part-time employees, while only being responsible for 30% of the students wage. For instance, if the standard pay for your agency were minimum wage ($5.15 per/hour) you would only be responsible for $1.55 per/hour. As the maximum Work-Study award is $3200.00, the most you could expect to pay a student in one year is $960.00. Check to see if you qualify as a community service agency. Be sure to visit Work-Study's Employer Section as well.
