Financial Aid Information for OSU Academic Advisors

The OSU Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid is here to help students and their families  finance their educational dreams. More than 80 percent of the students who attend OSU receive some form of financial assistance; OSU students received more than $200 million during the 2007-2008 award year.

We know that the financial and academic concerns of students often overlap, and we encourage students to talk with both their academic advisor and staff in the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid as they make decisions regarding their enrollment plans.  This page is designed to give academic advisors financial aid information often used when helping their students.

  • Academic Advisor Approval of Northern Oklahoma College (NOC) or Tulsa Community College (TCC) Courses for OSU-Stillwater Degree-
The Academic Advisor completes part of this form to indicate approval of the NOC and/or TCC courses for purposes of financial aid eligibility. The advisor then forwards the form by email to the Director of Academic Student Services, who gives final authorization for the courses. When completed, the form must be emailed to the address on the form by the Director of Student Academic Services or the Director's designee. Since email addresses will serve as the 'signature' of the authorized official, paper forms cannot be accepted.
  • Enrollment Changes and Financial Aid Eligibility: A student's enrollment plans are key in the determination of eligibility for scholarships and financial aid. Changes to these plans can affect a student's current and/or future eligibility for assistance.
  • OSU Scholarships and Financial Aid Policy on Satisfactory Academic Progress -
Federal regulations require the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid (OSFA) to monitor the academic progress of students who apply for federal financial aid. A copy of this policy is included with every award letter sent by the OSFA to ensure students are aware of the requirements before they accept the assistance. The policy applies only to applicants for federal and state (OTAG) assistance; recipients of OSU scholarships, university tuition scholarships or athletic grant-in-aid must meet eligibility requirements of the respective program.
  • Remaining Hours Required for Degree Completion Form-
By federal regulations, students have a maximum time frame (total hours attempted, including grades of "W") in which to complete degree requirements and still qualify for financial aid.  If an exception is to be made, the rationale must be documented and available for audit in the student's financial aid file.  If a student is notified that he will/has been suspended because he will/have exceeded the maximum number of hours allowed for completion of the current degree, and the student will need to continue enrollment in that program, the academic advisor is asked to complete this form as part of the student's appeal.  The student should also submit the appeal form explaining in her own words the circumstances related to the appeal.
