A Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (SEOG) is designed to assist undergraduates who demonstrate exceptional financial need-- students with the lowest Expected Family Contribution (EFC). An SEOG does not have to be paid back.
OSU receives a specific amount of SEOG funds for the year. Priority for these limited funds is given to students who complete the application process, including providing requested documentation to the OSU Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid, earliest and who demonstrate exceptional financial need via the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
The maximum SEOG at OSU is $2,000 for the 2007-2008 award year. The number of hours in which you are enrolled may have an impact on the amount of SEOG for which you may be eligible. Before you change your total hours of enrollment for the semester, be sure you have read "Enrollment Changes and Financial Aid Eligibility."
Funds are credited to your OSU student account once each semester and are used to cover any tuition, fees, on-campus room and board or other direct institutional charges you may have incurred. You should complete the Title IV Fund Payment Authorization form, available from the OSU Bursar's Office, to indicate whether you want Title IV funds (including SEOG) to be applied to all charges or restricted to specific direct charges only. Once charges are paid, if your account has a credit balance, you will receive a refund from the Bursar's Office.
