A Federal Pell Grant, unlike a loan, does not have to be repaid. Pell eligibility is based not only on the expected family contribution (EFC) but also on your educational costs. The maximum Pell Grant award amount is $4,310 for the 2007-2008 award year. You can receive only one Pell Grant in an award year. If you are otherwise eligible you may receive a Pell Grant even if you are enrolled in less than six hours for the semester.
The number of hours in which you are enrolled has a direct impact on the amount of Pell Grant for which you may be eligible. Before you change your total hours of enrollment for the semester, be sure you have read "Enrollment Changes and Financial Aid Eligibility."
Funds are credited to your OSU student account once each semester and are used to cover any tuition, fees, on-campus room and board or other direct institutional charges you may have incurred. You should complete the Title IV Fund Payment Authorization form, available from the OSU Bursar's Office, to indicate whether you want Title IV funds (including Pell) to be applied to all charges or restricted only to specific direct charges. After charges are paid, if your account has a credit balance, you will receive a refund from the Bursar's Office.
