Enrollment Changes and Financial Aid Eligibility

Your enrollment plans are key in the determination of your educational costs. The length of the enrollment period is also considered when determining your costs; this is particularly important during the Summer Term, when sessions vary in length from 3 weeks to 8 weeks.

Are you enrolled in the number of hours you indicated when you accepted your award(s)?

You can review the minimum number of hours on which your financial aid is based by logging onto OSU SIS-Web Student Self-Service and "Estimated Cost and Enrollment Information" from the "Financial Aid" menu.

Fall 2008/Spring 2009: If you need to update your enrollment or housing plans for Fall 2008 and/or Spring 2009, please notify our office by completing the online 2008-2009 Enrollment Update Form.

Summer 2008:  If your enrollment plans for Summer 2008 have changed, please submit a new Request for Summer Aid.

Dropping classes during the 100% tuition refund period:

If you dropped classes during the 100% refund period, your financial aid will be revised based on the new level of enrollment. You may be required to repay some or all previously disbursed aid

Withdrawing from all classes:

If you withdraw from all classes, financial aid eligibility will be recalculated based on the number of days you were enrolled. You may be required to return funds to the OSU Bursar's Office. If your aid has not been disbursed, you may be eligible to receive a portion of the aid you have accepted. (OSU Return to Title IV Policy)

Failure to attend class throughout the semester:

If you enroll for classes and you do not withdraw; yet you fail to attend class throughout the semester, you may be required to return funds to the OSU Bursar's Office. Your financial aid eligibility will be recalculated based on the last date of attendance as reported by the instructor(s). Any aid based on classes for which attendance cannot be determined will be returned to the aid programs. You will be required to repay all aid returned. (OSU Return to Title IV Policy)

Scholarships/Tuition Waivers:

If you are receiving a scholarship/tuition waiver, are you enrolled in the correct number of hours to receive the award? Most undergraduate tuition waivers and cash scholarships require a minimum of 12 hours of enrollment each semester.

Multi-Year Scholarships:

If you receive a multi-year scholarship you may have to complete a specific number of hours and attain a specific GPA each academic year to retain the scholarship. If you are unsure of the requirements, review your scholarship award letter and acceptance form or contact the awarding department/agency.

Graduate Students:

If you are a graduate student, you should check with your academic department to determine the enrollment requirements to receive a graduate scholarship/tuition waiver.

In addition to enrollment, expected family contribution, other sources of financial assistance you will receive, and federal annual award limits are also taken into consideration when determining your award(s).  Each student is also required to meet Financial Aid Satisfactory Academic Progress standards.
