International Initiatives

The Emeriti Association created the International Relations Committee to further enhance the historically rich relationship that OSU has with a variety of international institutions in various countries around the world. The initial and primary function of the committee has been to create an endowed scholarship program.

OSU international alumni from several countries (plus friends who believe in the importance of a global student body) are being solicited to contribute money to a scholarship fund established specifically for students from that country. It is believed that international alumni who had an enriching experience while pursuing a degree at OSU will contribute money to provide similar opportunities to others from their country.

Scholarships

To date, endowed scholarship accounts have been established for Ethiopia and Thailand. Other countries soon to be added include: Japan, Jordan, South Korea, UAE, and Mexico, with others to follow. Already, three one thousand dollar scholarships have been awarded, thanks to donations from members of the committee and Dr. and Mrs. Cecil Dugger, the latter having created two one-thousand dollar scholarships for students from Thailand. An alumnae has recently designated a Fifty-thousand dollar gift through her will for the Ethiopian endowed scholarship.

Donations

Any one interested in making a donation to these or other (designated countries) countries may do so by either making a check payable to the: OSU Foundation, designating on the memo that the money is for the Emeriti Endowed International Scholarship Fund: name the country or calling the Office of International Students and Scholars, 405-744-5459 and speak with Tim Huff, Director. Information is also available on the International Students and Scholars web site.
