Present: : Sharon Brown, Loretta Bertholf, Bob Henrickson, Zona Noyes, Betty Rutledge, Bob Swaim, Russ Wright
President-elect Russ Wright presided, in the absence of President Larry Zirkle. Meeting was called to order at 1:30 .m. Bob Swaim moved for the approval of the agenda; seconded and passed. Sharon Brown moved the April 28th minutes be accepted; seconded and passed.
Officer/Committee Reports:
a. Constitution, Bylaws. Policies and Procedures Committee : Russ Wright reported the Constitution, Bylaws. Policies and Procedures Committee has met twice. No action will be taken until President Zirkle returns.
Russ asked Bob Henrickson to send him a list of all he does for the organization in the office. Russ will then, with Sharon Brown, Larry Perkins and Bob Henrickson prepare a description for the facilities manager.
b. Activities:
Sharon Brown reported the search for persons to man the front desk during the noon hour will be put off until September. Sharon has prepared an index card box for persons working at the center to record hours worked. In April/May over 75 hours were recorded.
b. President Elect: Bob Swaim reported he has all slots filled for 2009 except for President-Elect and Treasurer. He is about out of prospects. If anyone knows a qualified person with accounting background, let Bob know.
c. Treasurer: Bob Henrickson passed out a transaction report for year-to-date. He suggested that there should be a full report every 6 months. This would include all accounts at Credit Union, OSU Foundation, etc. The total amount of all accounts to date is $69,849.75.
Bob also reported a Memorandum of Understanding, good through June 30, 2009, has been signed between the College of Education and the Emeriti Association to lease office space to OLLI for $300.00 a month.
d. Membership: Zona Noyes reported that Bob and Jane Barker and Delores Willis have joined. She also circulated a thank you note received from Edna Jungers for Lifetime Memberships we gave her.
Old Business: It was brought to the attention of the group that in the February 25, 2008 minutes, Council voted to keep the Emeriti Suite Decoration Committee as a standing committee in charge of future decor needs.
New Business: Russ reviewed the e-mail received from Earl Mitchell re. health insurance. Russ stated there is a need to determine whether the University can withhold our $104 stipend if we leave the Blue Cross/Blue Shield pharmacy plan. There needs to be an emeriti person responsible for checking this out with the BC/BS representative and the OSU Benefits officials.
We were reminded of summer Emeriti dinners and Council meetings.
