ATHLETIC TRAINING
The Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) is a highly educated and skilled profession specializing in allied health care. In cooperation with physicians and other allied health personnel, the ATC functions as an integral member of the health care team in secondary schools, colleges and universities, sports medicine clinics, professional sports programs, industry and other health care settings.

AVIATION & SPACE PROGRAM
The Aviation and Space Program prepares students for careers in the aerospace industry. The B.S. in Aerospace Administration and Operations degree program offers five options: Aerospace Logistics; Aviation Management; Professional Pilot; Aerospace Security; and Technical Services Management.

TEACHER PREPARATION
The College of Education is among the leaders of teacher preparation and is accredited by NCATE*. There is an increasing demand for teachers both within Oklahoma and across the nation. Teacher preparation is offered in elementary education (1-8); secondary education (7-12 in English, mathematics, social studies and science); Art (K-12); and foreign language (K-12 in French, German, and Spanish). An emphasis is placed on field experiences which provide opportunities to work with and observe practicing classroom teachers. Successful completion of a twelve-week student teaching (internship) experience is required for graduation. Numerous opportunities to work with students in settings that vary from academic tutoring to coaching sports are available and encouraged.

PHYSICAL EDUCATION
Physical Education combines two exciting concepts: spending time with students and helping them put together a foundation for movement, personal fitness, and healthy choices that will enhance their lives. Physical Education graduates are prepared for a license to teach K-12 physical education and health and to coach athletics. In addition to teaching, many graduates enter careers in the YMCA and similar agencies where teaching, coaching, and programming professionals are needed.

HEALTH PROMOTION
The Health Promotion program prepares graduates to provide preventative health services in a corporate or community setting or to provide rehabilitative health services in a clinical or hospital setting. Graduates from the Health Promotion degree program are employed in hospital-based fitness centers, wellness centers, in out-patient centers, and in some of the rapidly growing related professions such as medical supply and pharmaceutical sales. Health Promotion majors regularly use this program as preparation for graduate study in medical technology or as physicians assistants.

LEISURE STUDIES
The leisure profession is a multi-billion dollar industry crossing the public and private sectors. Demand for professionals has increased dramatically in recent years. The Leisure Studies program offers two nationally accredited options.
- Leisure Services ManagementThe Leisure Services Management option prepares graduates to work with both adults and children in a wide variety of settings including public park and recreation agencies, military recreation programs, nonprofit organizations, golf and tennis clubs, theme parks, resorts, fitness centers, youth camps, church-related organizations, scouting programs, and family organizations such as the YMCA. In partnership with American Humanics, Inc., OSU offers a program to certify future professionals to work with youth and families in non profit agencies.
- Therapeutic RecreationTherapeutic Recreation graduates are prepared to work with and provide therapy for individuals with varying diagnoses and disabilities in a variety of settings including mental health treatment facilities, physical rehabilitation treatment facilities, hospitals, day programs, and community-based settings. Over 80% of new healthcare employment opportunities in Oklahoma are in the areas of mental health and physical rehabilitation. Therapeutic Recreation has been designated by the United States Department of Labor as the twelfth fastest growing occupation in the country.

OCCUPATIONAL EDUCATION
Two options in Technical and Industrial Education are offered in the Occupational Education programthe certification option and the non-certification option. The certification option is for those interested in teaching technical education in the secondary schools. Graduates of the certified option are in demand to serve as teachers, supervisors, and coordinators for career, trade, and industrial education programs. The non-certification option is for those interested in teaching technical education to adults. Graduates of the non-certification option are in demand as instructors in career and technical programs at community colleges, technical centers, and at on-the-job training programs in the private sector. Some of the many fields included are: automotive technology, aviation technology, commercial art, photography, computer assisted drafting, electronics, computer networking, computer repair, and television production.

MORE ABOUT US
Every student in every program at the OSU College of Education (COE) gets a significant amount of hands-on experience outside the classroom. COE students graduate "Ready for Real Life" after well-supervised pre-professional experiences. Each semester COE students can be found flying airplanes, tutoring students and practice teaching, running volunteer community programs, fulfilling internships in business settings and more.
TechnologyCollege of Education students learn how to integrate telecommunications and technology in their fields. They learn many computer-related teaching skills such as creating computer-assisted presentations and preparing distance learning courses via the internet.
CareersThe College is very successful in assisting students in finding jobs upon graduation. The OSU Career Services, the COE career consultant, the academic advisement staff, and faculty communicate regularly with school districts and companies seeking to hire OSU College of Education graduates.
ScholarshipsLast year more than $250,000 in scholarships were awarded to students in the College of Education. Students may also apply for fee waivers, college workstudy, federal grants and loans, and employment opportunities on campus.
