Undergraduate Programs: Athletic Training
The Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) is a highly educated and skilled profession specializing in allied health care. In cooperation with physicians and other allied health personnel, the ATC functions as an integral member of the health care team in secondary schools, colleges and universities, sports medicine clinics, professional sports programs, industry and other health care settings.
NATA Certification
Certified Athletic Trainers have fulfilled the requirements for certification established by the Board of Certification. The Athletic Training Education Program at Oklahoma State University is an academic track within the Bachelor of Science program in Athletic Training. Each year approximately twelve to fifteen Athletic Training Students (ATS) are selected based on application, interviews, academic experience, athletic training experience, and recommendation from previous supervisors. These selections are completed in the spring following the freshman year of university course work. Another track within the HHP area is the pre-professional option. This option is accepted by many graduate schools as appropriate preparation for graduate study in health care professions.
