I have been with the Curriculum Studies program since its inception in the 1980's. I serve as Program Coordinator and as STCL Graduate Coordinator. The courses I teach include:
CIED 5043 Issues of Teaching
CIED 5073 Pedagogical Research
CIED 5173 Kindergarten-Primary Curriculum
CIED 5313 Elementary Curriculum
CIED 5730 Seminar in Education: Constructivist Theory in Education
CIED 6033 Analysis of Teaching
CIED 6073 Advanced Pedagogical Research
CIED 6503 Doctoral Seminar.
Every other summer I also teach a graduate course for the University of Alaska in Fairbanks and/or Juneau. I tried dog sledding in the Alaskan winter. My husband does research on Iditarod dogs. The Alaskan experience has broadened my view of diversity education.
I am certified to teach and have taught at all levels: infants/toddlers through the graduate level. My doctoral degree from the University of Virginia was in Curriculum & Instruction with emphasis in Early Childhood Education. My research interests include teacher research and the application of constructivist theory and phenomenological theory to knowledge construction.
For fun I like white water rafting and hiking in the Colorado Rockies where my family has a cabin. I like to take my dog Lilly for walks around Boomer Lake.
