Educational Background
Ph.D. in Health Science from The University of Arkansas, 1994.
Dissertation: Identification of the Stages of Habit Acquisition in upper elementary children: Instrument development and evaluation of a drug prevention education program.

M.Ed. in Exercise Science from The University of Arkansas, 1987.

B.S.E. in Physical Education with minors in Biology and Chemistry from John Brown University, 1983.

Professional Experience and Activities

  • Associate Professor ( promoted 2002, tenured 2003) and Interim Chair (2002-2003); Department of Health Education and Health Promotion; The University of Wisconsin – La Crosse (1998-2003).
  • Assistant Professor & Graduate Coordinator for Health Studies (1997-1998); Southeastern Louisiana University  (1994-1998).
  • Trainer of Trainers & International Evaluation Consultant for Youth at the CrossRoads  (1997-Present).
  • Evaluation and Curriculum Consultant, Good 4 Me, work with the Caring Foundation (OK Blue Cross Blue Shield) on childhood obesity grant.

Research Interests
Dr. Kelley’s research interests include ATOD prevention, character issues and health behavior, and HIV/AIDS prevention.

Current Projects
Dr. Kelley is currently developing a manuscript with M. Young and T. Penhollow concerning adolescent sexual behavior and other socially desirable/undesirable characteristics.

University Involvement & Service
Dr. Kelley is very active in the OSU community. He currently serves as the Program Director of Health Promotion at OSU-Tulsa. He also sits on the Institutional Review Board, University Safety Committee, and Faculty Senate. Additionally, he has served on the Dean’s Leadership Council, the College Planning Council for the College of Education, and the College of Education Curriculum Committee.
