GENERAL INFORMATION
The Annual Meeting of the Rocky Mountain
Educational Research Association will be October 21-22,
2005, on the campus of the Oklahoma State University in
Stillwater, Oklahoma. All current and prospective members
are invited to submit proposals for the following categories:
1) Research, 2) Symposia, 3) Best Practices, and 4) Poster
Sessions. Proposals should be received electronically
by 5 PM on September 15, 2005.
- Research Presentations: These share
findings of current or on-going research activity. Presentations
will be 15-25 minutes followed by a question and answer
period. The proposal should include the following:
a) statement of the problem;
b) summary of the methods (description of the data collection,
instrumentation, analysis, and subjects);
c) results;
d) conclusions/implications of the study.
- Symposia: These are 50 minutes in
length and may include the extended/combined presentation
of similar topics by multiple authors. Proposals for
symposia should include an overview, summaries of all
included papers, and suggestions for audience participation.
The cover sheet for a symposium should list the organizer
as the senior author and include the title and presenter
of each paper or topic included.
- Best Practice: These share current
innovative practices which would be of interest as potential
areas of research. The proposal should include a description
of the practice, the personnel involved, the target
students or audience, and conclusions or implications
for educational researchers.
- Poster Presentation: Posters are
to be organized to permit informal discussion of research
projects, innovative instructional/administrative techniques,
or new types of instrumentation. Presenters will remain
with their posters during the evening session. Proposals
for posters should include a description of the topic,
its significance, and methods used.
SUBMITTING THE PROPOSAL
To submit a proposal, please send an electronic copy of
your registration form and your proposal. The proposal
MUST be saved as a Word or Rich Text document. The proposal
must also be 250-500 words using APA-5 format.
Proposals must be received electronically by
5PM on September 15, 2005.
Notification of Acceptance will be sent out by September
26, 2005; upon acceptance, you must submit 3 paper copies
of your proposal to the address given below:

AWARD CATEGORIES
Should you choose to have your proposal considered for
an award, two copies of the entire paper must be submitted.
The Junior Award is given to first time presenters or
graduate students. The Senior Award is available to previous
presenters. The winning paper in the Junior category will
be presented at the Annual Meeting of Consortium of SAERA
at AERA in April 2006.
PARTICIPATION REQUIREMENTS
- All primary authors and co-authors must be members
of RMERA.
- The presenters must register for the meeting prior
to presenting their papers.
- Failure to register will result in cancellation of
the session.
- An overhead projector, an LCD projector, a computer
and a screen will be available in each meeting room.
