Physical Education Club to Host Oklahoma Teacher of the Year, Nov. 29
The Physical Education Club will host 2007-08 Oklahoma Teacher of the Year Stephanie Canada on Thursday, Nov. 29, in the Willard Hall Living Room at 7 p.m. Canada will be speaking to the club and the event is open to any OSU faculty, staff or student as well as the general public.
Canada teaches physical education at Will Rogers Elementary in Shawnee. She has taught for 12 years and has been with Shawnee Public Schools since 2003. She also taught for Checotah Public Schools, serving as the girls' high school basketball coach from 1998-1999. She began her career teaching in higher education, serving as an instructor in Northeastern State University's College of Education and as the assistant women's basketball coach from 1999 to 2001. She was also an assistant women's basketball coach at the University of South Florida (1997-1998) and an instructor and assistant women's basketball coach at East Central University (1995-1997). Canada earned her Bachelor of Science in exercise science and a master's in secondary physical education from East Central State University.
