COE Programs Receive Grants from State Regents
The State Regents Minority Teacher Recruitment Center announced three awards to the OSU College of Education for the upcoming year for projects to recruit, retain and place teachers in Oklahoma K-12 schools.
A collegiate connection grant to Dr. Gayla Hudson will support activities of the “Oklahoma Center for Innovation in Teaching Excellence (OCITE)” which is targeted toward the retention of novice teachers and the attraction of National Board Certified Teachers to urban and hard-to-staff schools in Tulsa through mentoring support and professional development.
Two special project grants will provide additional support to events that highlight teaching careers and place a positive focus on education. Dr. Nadine Olson will lead pre-service education majors and international students conducting the “Multicultural Fair: An International Exploration for Children” during October for the benefit of local schoolchildren and teachers. Funding awarded to Pam Montemurro-Reding will contribute to the “Celebration of Teaching” conference during the spring which honors outstanding Oklahoma educators and promotes teaching careers to academically talented students.
