COE Programs Receive Grants from Regents
State Regents announced that OSU is among seven universities in Oklahoma dividing up more than $1 million in federal grants to offer educators the latest in classroom learning techniques in math, literacy and science. The grant money comes from the No Child Left Behind program.
OSU received two grants for programs coordinated by the College of Education: $154,657 for algebra, literacy and end-of-course assessment; and $129,546 for Teach for Achievement: Data-Driven Decision-Making in Literacy Instruction.
The algebra, literacy and end-of-course assessment grant will be conducted by COE’s Dr. Gayla Hudson and Dr. Susan Stansberry along with participating Arts & Sciences faculty.
The Teach for Achievement grant will be facilitated by COE’s Dr. Heidi Anne Mesmer and Dr. Eric Mesmer and also includes participating Arts & Sciences faculty.
The university will share in a third grant, $414,919, that is targeted for the Oklahoma Center for Innovation in Teaching Excellence, a partnership between OSU, Langston University and Northeastern State University. COE’s Dr. Darlinda Cassel, Dr. Leah Engelhardt, Dr. Susan Stansberry and Dr. Gayla Hudson will oversee the OSU component of the program.
OSU’s COE also received funding for the Interdisciplinary Aerospace Education High School Summer Academy coordinated by Dr. Steve Marks.
