Education Student Council

What is ESC?

ESC, a unit of the Student Government association, is the student council for the College of Education.  It is a student serving organization with the purpose of providing the students in the College of Education with worthwhile activities and services while promoting educational growth and maximization of the students.

Who can be in ESC?

ESC is open to anyone in the College of Education who is a full time student enrolled in at least 12 hours and possesses a 2.5 GPA.  Freshmen do use their high school GPA.

What does ESC do?

ESC serves a representative body of the students, connecting them with the faculty and staff along with other students in the College.  ESC provides services for the students that include Transfer Day refreshments and greeters, Teacher Placement Day workers, and highlights of the year, the Honors and Awards Banquet and the “I Wonder” Fair.  ESC also acts as a liaison between the other clubs and organizations within the College of Education.

What else does ESC do?

ESC acts as its own club.  ESC has social activities.  ESC offers opportunities for community service as an individual and as a member of the group.  ESC establishes routes of involvement for both the College and the OSU campus as a whole.

Why should one be on ESC?

As a member of ESC, students have the opportunity to become directly involved with the students and the faculty within the College of Education.  ESC allows one to serve and represent other students.

How does one become a member?

ESC membership is decided through an application and interview process.  The applications are available at the beginning of the fall and spring semester outside 106 Willard.  The applicants should be returned to 320 Willard by the date listed on the application.  The top applicants will receive an interview conducted by current ESC members.  Membership is capped at 70 including new and current members.

ESC meets on Wednesdays at 5:30 p.m. on 010 Willard Hall.
