Hubbard to Receive Wheatley Award from University Aviation Association

Dr. Todd Hubbard, the Charles Page Chair in Aviation Sciences in the OSU College of Education, has been named the 2009 winner of the University Aviation Association's (UAA) William A. Wheatley Award. The award is given to a person who has made an impact on education, particularly the education of students pursuing careers in aerospace.
Hubbard was nominated for the award by current UAA President David Conway, who is also the Director of the Southeastern Oklahoma State University Aviation Sciences Institute. Conway received his education doctorate from OSU.
Hubbard has served as the Page Chair at OSU since 2005. He is the author of three books, including Aviation Mental Health: Psychological Implications for Air Transportation (co-authored with Robert Bor), Exploring Research Methods with an Aviation Emphasis and Aviation Weather: Planning the Ultimate Cross Country (co-authored with Austin Gotcher).
Dr. Hubbard serves as the editor-in-chief of the International Journal of Professional Aviation Training and Testing Research. He has conducted significant research on the topics of discovering associations between flight operations and potentially dangerous behaviors and theoretical foundations of judgement research in aviation. Other research interests include cognitive psychology: perception, attention, inhibition, memory judgement and decisions; clinical psychology: mental health in aviation; and law: legal aspects of the U.S. airline business.
Hubbard earned his bachelor's degree and education doctorate from Oklahoma State and obtained a master's degree from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. He is a retired Lt. Colonel in the United States Air Force.
