|
The Oklahoma State University College of Education will host the fourth annual Oklahoma Student Media Festival May 12, 2009, inside Willard Hall on the OSU campus in Stillwater.
The purpose of the Oklahoma State Student Media Festival (OKSMF) is to stimulate student interest and involvement in all types of media production. Students from accross the state were invited to submit media projects in a number of categories. A team of education technology professors and specialists serve as judges, evaluating entries on a number of criteria and providing feedback to students.
The May 12 event offers students and teachers the opportunity to celebrate and screen winning entries, participate in workshops, and enjoy the OSU campus.
Dr. Susan Stansberry, associate professor and Educational Technology program director at OSU, launched the OKSMF in 2006. In 2009, a total of 386 projects produced by 520 students from 29 schools were submitted to the Festival.
Categories for entries included live action, animation, sequential stills, interactive stills, website, photographic essay and single photograph. There are three divisions - kindergarten through fourth grades, fifth through eighth grades and ninth through 12th grades.
Sponsors for the OKSMF are the OSU College of Education, the OSU Educational Technology/School Library Media program and the Oklahoma Technology Association.
