The 2009 Robert B. Kamm Distinguished Lecture in Higher Education is set for February 4, 2009, on the Oklahoma State University-Stillwater campus. Dr. Judith Gappa, professor emerita at Purdue University, will serve as the speaker for the 17th Kamm Lecture, giving a speech entitled “Attracting and Retaining Faculty: Who They Are and What They Seek.”
A noted author, Dr. Gappa’s most recent book is Rethinking Faculty Work: Higher Education’s Strategic Imperative (with Ann Austin and Andrea Trice). She also wrote The Invisible Faculty: Improving the Status of Part-Timers in Higher Education with co-author David Leslie.
Dr. Gappa served as a Professor of Educational Administration at Purdue University (1998-2006) and as Vice-President of Human Relations (1991-1998).
From 1995-97, Dr. Gappa was the Senior Associate for the American Association for Higher Education in Washington, D.C. She was the Associate Provost for Faculty Affairs/Dean of Faculty and Professor at San Francisco State University from 1975-1980. Prior to that time Gappa served as Director of Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity Programs and as an assistant professor at Utah State University (1975-1980).
Dr. Gappa holds an education doctorate in educational administration from Utah State University and studied in the Institute for Educational Management at Harvard University in 1980. |
