The Oklahoma State University College of Education announced its 2009 Hall of Fame class. Alumni Cathy Jameson(Davis, Okla.), Sherry Morgan(Sand Springs, Okla.) and Toni Stone(Stillwater) will be formally inducted and professor emeritus Dr. Bernard Beldenwill receive the honor posthumously on Friday, June 5, 2009, at the ConocoPhillips Alumni Center.

"These four individuals exemplify what it means to make a difference in the lives of others," College of Education Dean Pamela Fry said. "We are proud of their associations with the OSU College of Education. They all are most deserving of the College's most prestigious award."

Induction into the Hall of Fame is the highest honor bestowed by the College. Inductees are chosen by a committee of representatives of the College's Alumni Association, Associates, students, faculty and administration. This marks the 11th Hall of Fame Class for the COE.

Cathy Jameson has built a successful dental consulting business, Jameson Management, Inc., that provides comprehensive practice management for thousands of dentists in 26 countries worldwide. She has published more than 800 articles and written two books, Great Communication = Great Production and Collect what you Produce,which are top sellers in the dental arena. Cathy attended OSU (1967-70) before relocating to Omaha, Neb., when her husband, John, entered dental school. She completed her bachelor's degree in education at the University of Nebraska-Omaha and later earned a master's degree in psychology from Goddard College. Cathy is a member of the College of Education Associates and currently serves on the OSU Foundation Board of Governors a founding member of Women for OSU.

Sherry Morgan is a former Oklahoma Teacher of the Year (1979-80) and a recipient of the National Teacher's Award from the Freedom Foundation (1980). She was a founding member and past president of the College of Education's Alumni Association and also co-founded the College's annual Celebration of Teaching event. She helped to establish the Oklahoma Teachers of the Year and National Teachers of the Year organizations. She has had numerous state, national, and international publications in addition to being the co-author of Language Arts: A Wide Spectrum of Ideas. Sherry holds two degrees from OSU. She earned her bachelor's in secondary education and followed up by earning a master's in curriculum instruction. After teaching at Charles Page High School in Sand Springs, Okla., for 15 years, Sherry began working as a consultant, conducting professional development workshops, and later became an editor and writer for Holt, Rinehart and Winston, a textbook publishing company. She received an Outstanding Contribution award from the company in 1990 and continues working there today.

Toni Stone has spent her life in service to others as an educator, counselor, author, and through her civic involvement. Toni has two degrees from OSU. She earned a bachelor's degree in English and later completed a master's in guidance counseling. Toni worked as teacher and counselor in Oklahoma City, Germany, Wyoming, and Houston, where she developed a positive behavior management program for her severely emotionally disturbed students. Since retiring in Stillwater in 1999, Toni has volunteered her time with a number of organizations, including Stillwater Medical Center (SMC), where she served on its Foundation Board and as President of the SMC Auxiliary. She was president of the Saville Center (Child Advocacy) Board, currently serves on the Stillwater Domestic Violence Board and helped create the E-Angel Project, which provides items for needy children in the schools. Toni published a book titled I'm a Grandmother!! Now What?! She has served as president of the College of Education Associates and serves on the OSU Friends of the Library Board.

Bernard (pronounced Ber-nerd) Belden was a highly-regarded member of the OSU faculty for nearly 30 years (1959-1988). During his tenure at OSU, Belden served as the Director of the Reading Center (1959-1973) and helped to develop a reading minor for elementary education majors and a Graduate Certification program for reading teachers. Belden was also President of the Oklahoma Reading Council and a member of the International Reading Association Editorial Review and Evaluation Committee. During a sabbatical leave in 1982-83, he spent his time teaching first grade in Sallisaw, Okla. He published two reading textbook, Seven is an Interesting Number and the Eighth Day of the Week. Belden served in the Navy prior to his academic career. Following his retirement from OSU, he operated a bookstore in Stillwater, The Second Edition. Lois Belden will represent her late husband at the induction ceremony.
