Long-time OSU faculty member Dr. Marcia M. Dickman passed away in May of 2005.
To honor her impact on Oklahoma State University students, an endowed scholarship has been created in her name. This scholarship will be for College of Education graduate students with a focus in the area of student affairs.
Dr. Dickman was born April 16, 1949, to Paul and Frances Dickman, in Shelbyville. She attended school in Shelbyville and went on to receive her B.A., master’s and doctorate from Purdue University.
Dr. Dickman joined the College of Education at Oklahoma State University in 1985. In 1991, she became an Associate Professor /Assistant to the Vice-President of Student Affairs for the School of Educational Studies. In 2000, she assumed full-time duties as Associate Professor in the School of Educational Studies. She was also involved in student affairs and counseling.
According to Bert Jacobson, Head of School of Educational Studies, Dr. Dickman was known by her students for her continuous support and devotion to teaching. She was instrumental in recruiting, mentoring, and developing graduate students in the area of College Student Development. Her colleagues respected her for her experience and devotion to the area of student development. “We will miss Marcia’s sense of humor, her friendliness, and most of all her presence,” Jacobson said.
