What to expect?

The first session for all clients lasts approximately two hours and is formally known as the intake interview.  As part of this interview, all clients are asked about their presenting problems or concerns along with their histories and background information.  In addition to these questions, clients are given the option of participating in a research project currently being conducted in the clinic.  Towards the end of the intake session, all clients are given standard assessments, regardless of their presenting concerns.

All counseling sessions following the intake interview last about 50 minutes to an hour.  These sessions tend to be less structured in comparison to the initial intake interview.  In general, most clients are seen on a weekly basis.

Note: The intake counselor might not be the same person as the counselor working with the client in the sessions to follow
