IEM 5613 - Integrated Manufacturing Control Systems
Prerequisite: An undergraduate course in Production Control (e.g., IEM 4613 - Production Control) or intensive self-study using the 12-hour tape series entitled Basics of Production Control (see next entry) available from Engineering Extension at OSU. This course presents an advanced treatment of planning and control philosophies and techniques for manufacturing / production systems. Approaches which focus on demand-driven control and achieving competitive advantage through manufacturing are highlighted.

  • Understanding and utilizing material requirements planning
  • Integrating MRP with capacity planning, shop floor control, master scheduling, production planning, and demand management
  • Understanding JIT; the philosophy and the techniques
  • Overviewing the Theory of Constraints
