The Tribal Technical Assistance Program (TTAP) serves over 40 tribal governments in four states:

  • Oklahoma
  • Texas
  • Kansas
  • Nebraska

Established in 1995, the TTAP center provides training, information, and technical assistance for tribal transportation and economic development projects.

The OSU TTAP center is one of six in the United States. The TTAP mission is to meet the educational needs of tribal governments related to roads, bridges public transit, transportation systems inter-governmental coordination, and economic development.
A steering committee directs the activities of the TTAP center at OSU and acts as an advisory group. Representatives from the tribes and from the FHWA, the Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) and Oklahoma Department of Transportation (ODOT) comprise the committee.

The TTAP centers are jointly funded and administered by the Washington, DC headquarters of the FHWA and the BIA Department of Transportation. Four centers were created during the 1991 LTAP expansion. Two more were started in 1995. TTAP centers include an expanded focus on tourism as an economic development strategy along with educational and technical assistance.
