Greetings from the Mendocino Coast! The movie business is nothing new to this beautifully rugged shoreline, with more than two dozen movies having been filmed in and around Mendocino. So this year you're invited to study and rub elbows with some of Hollywood's most successful filmmakers. Besides giving individual presentations, they'll get together Saturday night to discuss how writers and actors approach dialogue. The panel will include
  • veteran actor James Whitmore
  • writer Sy Gomberg (20th Century Fox, MGM, Columbia, Paramount, Warner Bros., and Universal Studios, plus all major television networks)
  • writer/producer Jerry Juhl (Fraggle Rock; the Muppet Movies)
  • actress/author Marsha Hunt (The Way We Wore, about Hollywood fashion)

Also on hand will be screenwriter Joyce Maynard (To Die For; Where Love Goes), a relative newcomer to film making.

In addition, we're bringing to campus the usual wide variety of gifted professionals involved in all genres and aspects of writing and publishing.

On Thursday, we're offering limited-enrollment classes in poetry, fiction, and screenplays, followed by evening registration at a wine and cheese kick-off party with featured readers. On Friday and Saturday, there will be morning workshops, afternoon lectures, one-on-one sessions, book signings, and evening readings. Meals are included.

Now.....isn't that a pretty picture?
