The mission of the OSU Program in Forestry has three components.

  • First, we serve the people of Oklahoma, the nation and the world by providing educational opportunities that allow individuals to enter the profession of forestry and be leaders in the stewardship of forest resources.
  • Secondly, we conduct scientific inquiries into the nature of forest resources and their sustained use by mankind.
  • Finally, we provide existing knowledge of forest resources and the practice of forestry to people who manage public and private forest lands.

With this in mind, the faculty are committed to meeting students expectations for a meaningful experience and productive employment. Each student will develop:

  • Professional and technical knowledge and skills
  • Effective communication skills (reading, writing, speaking, listening and confidence)
  • Professional values and ethics
  • Analytical and problem solving abilities
  • Effective interpersonal skills
  • A foundation for setting career goals and a commitment to lifelong learning
