OSU Students Attend Cambridge Summer Program

For the 8th straight year, top Oklahoma State University students traveled to the United Kingdom with OSU’s Office of Scholar Development for a special summer course in leadership at Cambridge University. The course, designed and taught by Steve Harrist of OSU’s College of Education, gave students a better understanding of British leadership principles by immersing them in the culture that has produced many influential political figures.

OSU Students Build and Send a Sensor Into Space

Students from OSU’s Radiation Physics Laboratory built and successfully launched a cosmic radiation detector this summer that reached the edge of outer space. Carried by a helium-filled balloon 12 feet in diameter, the detector flew for more than two hours and reached 104,000 feet in altitude. The device recorded radiation levels at the varying altitudes – information that will be used by NASA to develop instrumentation for space flight.

Orange Peel 2008
Sugarland, the Grammy nominated duo, will headline Oklahoma State University’s Orange Peel festival in Stillwater on Friday, Oct. 3, in Gallagher-Iba Arena. Their appearance is one of only three performances of its “Love on the Inside” tour they’re giving west of the Mississippi River, according to the Orange Peel executive team. The show is taking place the night before OSU’s home football game with Texas A&M. Special guests on the program will be American Idol finalist and country music star Kellie Pickler, country singer Ashton Shepherd, and Motion City Soundtrack.
