Position Title and Location
Extension Educator, Family and Consumer Sciences (Special Project)
Healthy Families Program (60% FTE)
Lincoln County, Chandler, Oklahoma

This position is available on or after September 1, 1998.
Salary
Commensurate with experience and qualifications. Position is funded by a grant from
the State Department of Health for one year, with the possibility of renewal for an additional
three-year period. Continuation of this position is subject to the need for the position,
performance, and availability of funding.
Job Summary
The Extension Educator is a professional staff member of Oklahoma State University. Basic
responsibilities include: (1) leadership in planning, implementing, and evaluating the Healthy Families
Program; (2) supervision for the recruitment, in-service education, and management of the
paraprofessional staff (Family Support Workers and Family Assessment Worker); (3) assure enrolled
new parents receive a quality education program which includes parent/child interaction; infant and
child development; money management, and nutrition. Office headquarters for this position are
located in Lincoln County.
All Extension Educators hired after August 1, 1988, with only a Bachelor's degree are expected to
have satisfactorily completed all requirements for a Master's degree within seven (7) years from their
date of appointment.
Qualifications
A Bachelor's degree is required in Human Environmental Sciences or Family and Consumer
Sciences with a Master's preferred. Specialization in child and family development, early childhood
education or a closely related area is preferred.
