Position Title and Location
Extension Educator, Family & Consumer Sciences (Special Project) - 50% FTE
Adair County, Stilwell, Oklahoma

This position is available on or after December 8, 1997.
Salary
Commensurate with experience and qualifications. Position is funded by the State Strengthening Grant “Developing
Community Programs for Oklahoma Families at Risk.” Continuation of this position is subject to the need for the position,
performance, and availability of funding.
Job Summary
The Extension Educator is a professional staff member of Oklahoma State University. Basic responsibilities include:
(1) work as a team member under the direction of OCES state staff and with other professionals located in the five rural
counties receiving funds from this grant. Grants sites include Adair, Blaine, Cotton, Greer, and Okfuskee counties; (2)
work effectively as a team member with other agencies/organizations supporting new parents; (3) provide expertise in program
management and development relating to volunteer programming for First Steps in the five identified rural counties; (4)
travel to grant sites is required periodically; (5) flexibility and adaptability in scheduling is necessary.
All Extension Agents hired after August 1, 1988, with only a Bachelor's degree are expected to have satisfactorily
completed all requirements for a Master's degree within seven (7) years from their date of appointment.
Qualifications
A Bachelor's degree is required in Human Environmental Sciences or Home Economics with a Master’s preferred.
Specialization in Child Development, Early Childhood Education or a closely related area is preferred. Previous professional
experience in working with parents and/or families with young children is preferred.
