SUMMARY STATEMENT

Every student has at least one class that they feel really effects them personally.  I think that for thirteen students this is that one class.  In the beginning I thought that it would just be a neat class, I didn't realize that it would change my attitude and outlook on life.  I try on a daily basis to appreciate the things that I used to take for granted; clean water, plenty of food, my own bed, and my car.  I sit and think about all my problems and realize that some people would probably love to have problems as simple as mine, getting these papers done on time for example.  I really have life pretty easy.  I wouldn't trade my life for anything.

At the beginning of this course we filled out a Course Contract stating our objectives for the class, both personal and as a group.   I outlined six personal objectives for this course:

        1.Experience 3rd World Lifestyles

        2.Create an Awesome Website

3.Eat different foods and spend too much money

4.Learn about tropical forest lands & their management

5.Experience my chosen career from another viewpoint

        6.Have a great time

I feel that I definitely met all of these objectives.  The first objective was impossible not to meet.  The second objective is still in the works but should be finished this week.  After all the time and effort we have put into the Web site, how could it be anything but awesome!  Objective three would also be impossible to fail to meet.  Many of our locations you had no choice on what to eat.  According to several of my class peers I didn't spend near enough money, but that is all depending upon ones point of view. One of the main ideas for the whole trip was to learn about tropical lands and their management, so objective number four would be hard to miss out on.  My chosen career deals with the Forest lands and their management, the point of the trip.  After seeing ESNACIFOR students, I am glad that I go to school at Oklahoma State University.  I don't think I would make it there.  And last but certainly not least, to have a Great Time.  I had a wonderful time and a most awesome experience.  This is one class that I will remember for the rest of my life.  Thank you Dr. Kuzmic for the Opportunity of a lifetime.

My key take home message from this class is to enjoy what you have and protect it, others may not have it and you may not for long.
